Jac Vanek's Photo Diary of the 2011 Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA
Coachella isn't just one of the largest 3-day music festivals in the country where bands from all over the world come to rock 75,000 people in the desert. It's also haven to one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world - the mountains, hills, and valleys of Indio, CA near Palm Springs.
People who are lucky enough to be able to attend Coachella find themselves in a massive outdoor polo field enduring the heat and dust for the love of music. It can be unbearable during the day time, often prompting poeple to attend pool parties where the bands and celebrities hang until the sun starts to set, after 5pm.
This year the festival was particularly beautiful, thanks in part to The Creators' Project who produced Arcade Fire's mind-blowing, illuminated balloon-laden finale. There was also a full, yellow moon and open-sky, cloudless sunsets. And then there were the people, the rides, the grounds, and the fun.
Jack Vanek's photo diary of her 3 days at Coachella capture the essence and feeling of what the music festival is about: music, friends, and fun.
